Functional Description
The F084 series PIN-preamplifier modules are low-cost capable receiver modules with a
miniaturized size for use in the 12.5 Gbps SONET/SDH systems. An InP pin-photodiode with
monolithically integrated resistors and capacitors is utilized to spontaneously achieve excel-
lent noise immunity with a large dynamic range. A high-speed and low-noise built-in GaAs
preamplifier obtain high sensitivity and a stable operation. The high performance butterfly
package was developed for a high-speed operation, small dimension, and low cost. Further-
more, two optical functions, bending an optical axis and focusing, can be successfully
achieved by only one optical component without lenses. This originally developed optical
component technology without lenses achieved lower optical losses at a low cost.
The F0849956F is applicable for 1.3 µm/1.55 µm optical fiber communication systems
for OC-192/STM-64, typically showing a high sensitivity of -18 dBm.
