Communication Adapter
Mitutoyo/RS-232
Model MRS100
Document No. MRS1004496
MRS100
Thank you for your interest in the MRS100 communication adapter.
The MRS100 is intended primarily for the connection of Mitutoyo gauges to data collection equipment or printers with
RS-232 input. A typical application is shown below in which a micrometer is connected to a PC.
Using the MRS100
Interconnect your instrument, the MRS100, and the data collector as shown in
Figure 1. Set the communication parameters of the RS-232 channel to 1200 baud, 8
data bits, 1 stop bit, and no parity.
Transmission of the data can be initiated by pressing the transmit button of the
instrument, in which case the MRS100 will automatically translate the data and transmit
to the RS-232 device. However the RS-232 device can request data from the
instrument by transmitting ASCII ‘?’ or 'X'. Please note that no separate power
connection to the MRS100 is required. Due to its low power consumption and unique
design, the power available from the RS-232 channel is sufficient for its operation.
