The RDA8206B RF transceiver is a fully integrated single-chip CMOS RF transceiver, fabricated in proven CMOS
technology, for the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specification for the Universal Mobile
Telecommunication System (UMTS) and GSM applications for 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz and 1900MHz bands. The
chip is specifically desig ned for UMT S Time Division Duplex (TDD) mode or TD-SCDMA standard that operates in the
dual-band range of 18 80 to 19 20 MHz and 2 010 to 202 5 MHz (1.28 Mcps option) and for GSM mode tha t operates in
the quad-band range of 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz and 1900MHz.
The chipset consists of the RDA8206 transceiver and RDA8252 power amplifier for TD-SCDMA, RDA6212 power
amplifier for GSM and RDA ES04 TX.RX s witch. This RF chipset provides a comp lete solution connectin g antenna to
baseband for these two modes, elimin ating the e xpensive IF SAW filter. All bulky components, such as RF VCO, loop
filters, and tuning inductors, are completely integrated on chip.
In TD-SCDMA mode, the receiver is a zero-IF architecture which includes an RF fr ont-end (LNA, Mixer), an analog channel filter and
a sigma-delta A/D converter which is followed by a digital signal processing unit (DSP) that performs digital filtering, digital PGA, and

DC-offset cancellation. In GSM mode, the receiver is a low-IF architecture which includes an RF front-end (LNA, Mixer), an analog
channel filter and also a sigma-delta A/D converter w hich is followed by a D SP that performs the seco nd mixing, digital filtering, digi tal
PGA, and DC-offset cancellation.
In TD-SCDMA mode, the transmitter is a dire ct up --- conversion architecture w hich includes a low-pass baseband filter, a highly linear
I/Q modulator and a large dy namic range RF VGA and a dri ver for external pow er amplifier (PA). In GSM mode, the transmi tter is an
direct PLL modulation architecture which includes a fractional-N PLL, an transmit PLL and a driver for e xternal power amplifier (PA).
The transceiver supports the universal analog baseband I/Q interface for GSM/GPRS and TD-SCDMA. Also RDA8206 supports
the 10-bit parallel digit al baseband I/Q interface for TD-SCDMA. To be compatible with DigRF standard, RDA8206 can support
the DigRF v1.12 digital baseband I/Q interface for GSM/GPRS
