1. SCOPE
1.1. Content
This specificat ion, whic h meets the Opti c al F iber Cabli ng Components Standard TIA /EI A - 568- B .3,
covers the perfor manc e, tests and qual it y r equirements f or Tyco E lectroni c s MT - RJ J ac k , 39 mm,|m ult imode fiber opti c c onnec tors in the following c onfigur ati ons: S tandard, XG and M T-RJ S E CURE .|
1.2. Qualification
When tests are perfor med on the subject product l ine, pr oc edur es specified in F igure 2 shal l be used.
Al l inspections shal l be performed using t he applicabl e inspection plan(s) and product drawing(s).
1.3. Quali fic ati on Test Result s
Successf ul quali fic ati on testi ng on the St andar d pr oduc t l ine was compl eted on 31Oc t03. Qual ificati on|of the XG c ompati ble jack was complet ed on 17Feb04, and the MT - RJ S E CURE pr oduc t l ine|qualificati on was complet ed on 01M ar 05. The Qual ificat ion T est Repor t number for thi s testing is 501-|545. T his documentation i s on fi le at and avai lable from Engineering Practi ces and Standards (EPS).

B. Cable Assembly Pr epar ati on
Launch cables shall be pr epar ed from specified c able assembly part numbers by cut ti ng the cable
assembly in half and at taching to the test equipment. Receive cabl es shall be factory pr epar ed
cabl e assemblies usi ng specified cable part number and the appl icable t est int er face connector.
C. Test Sequenc e
Quali fic ati on inspection shall be verified by t esting speci mens as spec ified in Figure 4.
4.2. Requalificati on Testi ng
If c hanges significant ly affect ing for m, fi t or func ti on ar e made to the pr oduc t or manufac turing
process, product assurance shall coordinat e r equalificat ion t esting, c onsi sting of all or par t of t he
ori ginal testing sequence as determined by devel opment/pr oduc t, quality and r eliability engineering.
4.3. Acceptance
Acceptance is based on veri fic ati on that the product meets requi r ements of Fi gur e 2. Failures
att r ibut ed to equi pment, test setup or operator deficiencies shall not di squal ify the product. When
product failure oc c ur s, c or r ec ti ve acti on shal l be t ak en and specimens resubmitted for quali fic ati on.

4.4. Quali ty Confor manc e Inspection
The applicable quality inspection plan will specify the sampling acceptable quality level to be used.
Dimensi onal and func ti onal requirements shall be in accor danc e with the applicable product drawing
and this specificat ion.
5. SPECIAL INSTRUCTI ONS
5.1. Cleaning
If at any t ime, a specimen i s uncoupled during qual ificat ion t esting, the specimen shal l be cleaned
according t o the appl icable I nstr uc ti on S heet(s) prior t o any subsequent optical measurem ents.
Addi ti onal cleaning tec hniques deem ed nec essary by Pr oduc t Engineering shall be descri bed in the
Quali fic ati on Test Report . If, after cleaning the specimen as prescribed, loss perf or manc e exc eeds the
specified li mit , or, if the operat or suspects the presence of debris at t he opti c al inter face, per form the
cl eaning proc edur e a second t ime. If t he r esul tant opti c al reading still exceeds the specificat ion, c lean
the speci men a thi r d ti me and ac c ept that reading.
5.2. Control Cables
Control cables shall be subj ec ted to c limatic environment al tests. Transm it tance shall be rec or ded
each time a speci men transm it tance is made. Changes in control cabl e power of less than 0.05 dB
m ay be neglected i n the test specimen power and loss calculat ions. I f contr ol cable power changes by
m or e than 0.05 dB over the test or sequence of tests, change in cont r ol cable power shall be included|in power and l oss calc ulat ions per TIA/ E IA-455- 20A .
