1. SCOPE
1.1. Content
This specification covers perf ormance, tests and quality requirements for AMPLIMI TE* HD-22 right
angl e and vertical printed circuit board mounted connect ors.
1.2. Qualification
When test s are per formed on the subject product line, procedur es specifi ed in Figure 1 shall be used.
Al l inspections shall be performed using applicable inspect ion plan and pr oduct dr awing.
1.3. Qual ification Test Results
Successful qualification testing on the subject product line was compl eted on 14Dec89. The
Qual ification Test Repor t number for t his testing is 501-104. Additional t esting was complet ed on
09Jan02, t he Engineeri ng Report number for this t esting 502- 1125. T his documentation is on file at and
available from Engineering Practices and Standards (EPS).
2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
The followi ng Tyco Electronics documents form a part of this specif ication to the extent specified herein.
Unl ess other wise specified, the latest edition of the document applies. In the event of conflict between
the r equirements of this specification and the product drawing, the product dr awing shall t ake
precedence. In the event of conflict betw een the requirements of t his specif icati on and the refer enced
documents, this specification shall take precedence.

4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1. Qual ification Testing
A. Sample Selection
Connector housings and contacts shall be prepared in accor dance with applicable Instruct ion
Sheets and shall be selected at r andom from current production.
Test groups 1 and 3 shall consist of 5 samples each of 30

angl e recept acle connector. Mating crimp snap pl ug connector s without grounding indent s shall be

Cabl e clamps shall be used on crimp snap connectors. Hardware shall be used t o hold mating
connector s together and to secure posted connector s onto printed ci rcuit boards.
Test group 2 shall consist of 5 samples each of 30

Test groups 6 and 7 shall each consist of 5 samples of right angl e receptacle connector with gold
flash contacts.
Test group 8 shall consist of 5 samples each of siz e 1 (15 position), size 2 (26 position), size 3 (44
posi tion), size 4 (62 position), and size 5 (78 position) r eceptacle connect ors w ith gold flash
contact s. Mating cri mp snap plug connectors with grounding indents shall be loaded wi th cr imped
contact s with no wires required.

B. Test Sequence
Qual ification inspect ion shall be verif ied by test ing samples as specified in Figur e 2.

4.2. Requal ification Testing
If changes signif icantly affecting f orm, fit or f unction ar e made to the product or manufacturing process,
product assurance shall coordinate requalification testing, consisting of all or part of the original testing
sequence as deter mined by development/product, quality and reliab ility engineering.
4.3. Acceptance
Acceptance is based on verificati on that the product meets the requir ements of Figur e 1. Failures
att ribut ed to equipment, test setup or operator def iciencies shall not disqualify t he product. When
product failure occurs, corrective action shall be taken and samples resubmit ted for qualification. Testing
to conf irm correct ive action is required befor e resubmi ttal.
4.4. Qual ity Conformance Inspection
The applicable quality inspection plan will specify sampling acceptable quality level to be used.
Di mensional and functional r equirements shall be in accor dance with applicable product drawing and
this specificati on.
4.5. Certification
Product has been recognized under the Component Recognition Program of Under writers' Laborat ories
Inc. , Elect rical File Number E- 28476 and certifi ed by Canadian Standards Association Number LR-
16455.
