The 3Com 11 Mbps Wireless
LAN Access Point 2000 is a viable
alternative to wired network
expansions and an attractive solution
for branch offices, remote sites, and
classrooms. Since there’s no need to
drill holes or run Ethernet cabling,
it’s also cost-effective for temporary
networks.
Simple Installation
The Access Point 2000 installs in as
little as 60 seconds. Plug the access
point into a power source and the
wired LAN, and it’s ready for use.
Typically no manual configuration is
required. For specific configurations,
a single access point configuration
can be propagated to all other access
points on the network.
Ease of Use
After the 60-second setup, users can
roam about the office—accessing
network resources, the Internet,
and e-mail—all at Ethernet speeds and
range of up to 100 meters (328 feet).
This access point is Wi-Fi certified, so
it interoperates with all Wi-Fi certified
products from other vendors.
Reliable Connections
Dynamic rate shifting automatically
matches the best connection speed
(11, 5.5, 2, or 1 Mbps) to environmen-
tal conditions, so wireless connections
stay reliable. Clear Channel Select
enables the access point to scan the
spectrum and select the clearest
channel—automatically.
The 3Com 11 Mbps Wireless LAN
Access Point 2000 is 3Com’s most
affordable and simple-to-install access
point. It provides cost effective
802.11b wireless LAN extensions.
An embedded HTTP web management
server enables remote management of
the wireless LAN segments in branch
and remote offices for efficient
operation and savings. Because it
avoids the expense and complexity of
running cables, this wireless LAN
solution costs less than wired LANs.

option for equipping a home or small
office with wireless access.
