These small, low-cost devices canbe used ona @:- Three General-Purpose Digita! Input/Output Pins system motherboard to manage point-of-load switching + Wi . frorn a 2-wire SMBus serial interface. Each device has SMBus 2-Wire Serial Interface three high-voltage, open-drain outputs that double as @ Supports SMBSUS Asynchronous Suspend TTL-level iogic inputs, giving them bidirectional capabili- : ties. The I/O pins can withstand 28V and are therefore * 3HA Typical Supply Current capable of controlling battery-voltage distribution # +2.7V to +5.5V Supply Range switches in notebook computers. . @ Os Can Withstand +28V There are two basic device types: the MAX1661 is intended for N-channel MOSFETs, while the MAX1662/ Available in a Space-Saving, Low-Cost, MAX1663 are intended for P-channel MOSFETs. The 10-Pin pMAX Package MAX1661's outputs are low, whereas the MAX1662/ MAX1663's outputs become high upon power-up. This ensures that the MOSFETs are off at power up so that Ordering Information the system can enforce power-plane sequencing. PART TEMP.RANGE PIN-PACKAGE The SMBSUS contro! input selects between control MAX'661EUB re to +85"e 10 UMAX data previously written to two separate data registers. MAX1662EUB 40C to 485C 10 MAX This feature allows the system to select asynchronously MAX1663EUB ~40C to +85C 10 uMAX between two different power-plane configurations, elim- inating latencies introduced by the serial bus. Other Pin Configuration features include thermal-overload and overcurrent pro- tection, ultra-low supply current, and hardware/ TOP VIEW software-interrupt capability.
