The following Atmel® AVR® UC3 32-bit microcontrollers are designed for audio applications:

These devices are distinguished by the AU letters before the dash in their part numbers.
Please note that for a given microcontroller, not all package versions exist. Additional audio
part numbers can be creat ed upon cust om er deman d.
The difference between an Audio micr ocontroller ( e.g. AT32UC3A0512AU-ALUT)
and its standard coun ter pa r t (e.g. AT32UC3A0512-ALUT) is not relevant to th e
user code.
As far as th e us er c ode is c on c er ned, Audio pa rts a r e 100% c ompatible w ith the
standard devices.
Atmel licensed Audio fir m ware IP cores such as the Proprietary C om m unica tion
Protocol with iPod®, iPhone® or iPad® dev ic e s , MP3, WMA or AAC decoders will
only work on Audio microcontroller s. Th e s e Audio f ir m ware I P c or es will not
execute on sta ndard mic r ocontr ollers (e.g. AT32UC3A0512-ALUT). The same
rule may apply to additional I P cores in the future.
For technical information on an audio part (e.g. AT32UC3A0512AU-ALUT), please refer to
the datasheet, architecture manual and technical reference manual of the standard
counterpa r t (e.g. AT32UC3A0512-ALUT). The same applies for other technical
documents such IBIS files, qualification packages, etc.
Tools that support the standard version of AVR UC3 microcontrollers also
suppor t their au d io counterpart.
