Description
IZM Circuit-Breakers, IN Switch-Disconnectors
The new open IZM circuit-breaker series, offers complete coverage of the range
from 800 – 6300 A with just the frame sizes 2 and 3
The new, compact frame size 1 (which can be installed in a switchpanel which is just
400 mm wide) extends the rated current range of the series to the lower end of the
range to include 630 A. If required, this range can be extended even further by ex-
changing the rating plugs, which will extend the range to 250 A, and includes a set-
ting range of 0.4 – 1 x In.
If however, your application requires switching at the higher-end, the new IZM of-
fers the perfect solution with a maximum breaking capacity of 150 kA/415 V.
In addition, the entire range of accessories is identical for all three frame sizes.
Moreover, the entire system can be centrally operated from a PC via PROFIBUS-DP,
where it can be monitored, controlled and switched. If maintenance should prove
necessary because of a fault, the maintenance personnel can be informed by SMS.

Fixed Installation and Withdrawable
The IZM circuit-breakers conform to:

VDE 0660 (German Standard)
Climatic proofing to IEC/EN 60 068-2-30
The IZM is suitable for use in climatic conditions to IEC/EN 60 068-2-30. It can be
used in enclosed areas which are not subject to difficult operating conditions (dust,
corrosive or caustic vapours). Specialized enclosures must be considered with hu-
mid and dusty conditions.
The IZM series has a uniform height and depth. The device width varies depending
on the number of poles and the frame size.
The withdrawable versions have slightly increased depth dimensions.
The electronic microprocessor controlled control unit is independent of the auxiliary
voltage.
It offer optimum protection for each application.
All IZM are equipped as standard up to 5000 A with horizontal connections
(6300 A vertical).
The following connections are possible as options:
vertical connections
accessible from the front, single-hole fitting
accessible from the front, double-hole fitting (according to DIN 43 673)
flange connections (withdrawable)
With a communication module, a connection to the PROFIBUS-DP is very simple to
realize. The transfer of circuit-breaker data and the switching and control via a cen-
tral PC is unproblematic in this manner. Data acquisition and energy management
are enabled in conjunction with the measurement function. A significant reduction
in power costs is noticeable.
An internal circuit-breaker bus allows communication between the IZM and the typ-
ical secondary devices, e.g. for the display of measurement values or reasons which
initiated a trip, or reading further switchpanel signals.
It is possible to remotely observe, switch and define parameters for the IZM.
The connection of the auxiliary circuits depends on the respective installation type:
•withdrawable
The internal auxiliary contacts are connected with circuit-breaker side plugs. In the
connected state, they are connected with the sliding module in the socket base.
fixed mounted
Auxiliary switches are plugged directly onto the IZM.
Many accessory parts (auxiliary contacts, voltage releases, etc.) can be retrofitted
or exchanged, in order to adapt the IZM to new requirements.
The main switching contacts can be exchanged on site, in order to extend the elec-
trical lifespan of the IZM.

Selection:

System sections 3 and 4 remain operational.
Selection:
Provided the short-circuit current does not exceed those

selectively in relation to one another.
