DESCRIPTION
The CVA24156T is a single channel, very high voltage
amplifier, designed to drive a CRT. It features no cross-over
distortion for excellent linearity. Emitter peaking option is
avai lable to adj u s t the high frequency response. CVA24156T
features high gain to match existing pre-amplifier drive
capability.

APPLICAT ION INFORMATION
The CVA24156T is a very high voltage amplifier . Using standard
Cascode topology, it is designed primarily to meet the
requirement of High Definition Television (HDTV), Projection
Television, arcade displays, etc. CVA24156T can deliver
100VP-P yet require only 160V supply voltage. CVA24156T
frequency resplonse is excellent, can energize 40ns pixels at
100VP-P into 10pf.
CVA24156T has very high gain (~25) to match any of the
available pre-amplifiers. A resistor from pin 3 to GND can
fur ther increase t he gain to desi red voltage. An emitter peaking
option is also pr ov id ed to adjust the high fr eque ncy r esp onse.
The product is housed in industry standard 11 lead TO-220
power packag e.
Thermal Consi de rati ons
The transfer characteristics of the amplifier are shown in
Figure 3.
Since this is a class A input stage, power supply
current increases as the input signal increases and
consequ ent ly power dissipation also increase s.
The CVA24156T cannot be used without heat sinking.
Figure
3
shows the power dissipated over the operating voltage
range of the device. Under white screen conditions, i.e.: 25V
output, di s s i p ation i n c r eases to 7 W t o tal. The CV A24156T case
temperature must be maintained below +100oC. If the
maxi mu m expect ed ambient temperature is +50oC, then a heat
sink is needed wi th thermal r esistance equal t o or l ess than:
