The CommPlete Communications Server provides dial-in/dial-out operation,
56K modem technology with digital channelized T1 and Primary Rate ISDN
access in one system. The CommPlete is ideal for Internet Service
Providers and midsize to large corporate intranets requiring remote access
solutions for up to 192 users.

Applications
Internet Service Providers. The CommPlete offers a
consistent solution for ISPs. Plug in the T1 or PRI
service and Ethernet, then turn on the populated
segments.
Dial-In Remote Access. The CommPlete 9600 makes it
easy to provide remote access to your small or midsize
LAN for V.90/56K and BRI ISDN remote users. With
the potential to support 192 concurrent sessions, this
solution can support dial-in telecommuters and road
warriors as well as dial-out LAN users.
System Architecture
Flexibility to Grow. With its four segment design, the
CommPlete Communications Server can support up to
four stand-alone servers (one per segment) and provide
up to 192 ports per chassis. But you don’t have to
populate all four segments immediately; you could start
with one segment to provide as few as 23 ports. Buy
what you need today, then as your server needs grow,
add more segments.
Versatile Integration. The CommPlete communications
server supports T1 or ISDN PRI services. A
CommPlete segment kit ships with Multi-Tech
RASExpress™ remote access software preinstalled.
Top Performance. Each populated segment in the
CommPlete is powered with a Multi-Tech RASCard
per segment to drive maximum throughput.
Isolation from Heavy Network Traffic. CommPlete
integrates a 10/100 Mb Ethernet switch to isolate the
communications server from heavy LAN traffic that
can bog it down.
Flexible LAN-to-LAN Connectivity. The CommPlete
has dial-up support for LAN-to-LAN routing over
analog or ISDN lines. Also, routing may be static or
dynamic with RIP version 2 support for route updating.
WAN Communications
56K Modem Cards. The high-density CommPlete
modem cards support both V.90 and K56flex standards
and are flash upgradeable. The modem cards are
manageable from remote locations using platform-
independent, industry standard protocols.
Single or Dual T1 Cards. T1 cards for the CommPlete
are available for a single T1 line, providing 24 ports or
for two T1 lines, providing 48 ports. The dual T1 cards
provide twice the number of connections in the same
amount of rack space.
ISDN PRI Cards. The CommPlete ISDN PRI cards
provide 23 PRI ports for use with North American or
Japanese PRI service and 30 PRI ports for use with
Euro PRI service. These cards support 64K or 128K bps
bi-directional ISDN connections. In addition, an ISDN
PRI segment can also handle V.90/56K analog calls.
Management
System Control. The CommPlete controller provides
complete remote control of the system. The controller
module keeps track of system operations, monitors
faults and status, and has built-in streamlined Web,
telnet, and ftp servers, and an embedded SNMP agent.
Powerful Management Software. The CommPlete
ships with MultiCommManager™ remote management
software for Windows®. MultiCommManager provides
timely performance analysis, security configuration,
status and usage information over the Internet. This
management information can also be retrieved with a
Web browser or a telnet client.
CommPlete™
Complete Control. MultiCommManager lets you set
modems and T1/PRI channels in- and out-of-service,
run tests to check T1/PRI and modem status, and reset
system components (RASCard, T1/PRI, and modems).
In addition, the multiple-level administrator security
capabilities allow you greater flexibility to grant
privileges where needed, without sacrificing server
security.
Powerful Reporting. Using MultiCommManager, the
on-board controller fetches timely status and usage
information over the Internet for platform-
independent management. The CommPlete serves up
the same information to Web browsers and to telnet or
SNMP clients. Numerous useful reports are available
that assist in system management and troubleshooting,
including connection reports, fault reports and modem
usage reports.
RASExpress Remote Access Software
Dial-In/Dial-Out Simplicity. The preconfigured
Multi-Tech RASExpress remote access server
software works with the CommPlete 9600 to provide
easy dial-up remote access for 192 users. It supports
PPP and SLIP clients and IP and IPX routing. LAN
users on IP and IPX networks can share the
CommPlete 9600 ports for data and fax applications
using RASExpress.
ML-PPP Maximizes Connection Speeds. For dial-in
users running demanding applications requiring more
bandwidth, RASExpress supports up to 250K bps
(analog) and 320K (ISDN) sessions. RASExpress
aggregates multiple connections into one high-speed
connection when a user connects to the server with
two or more analog or ISDN B-channels.
PPTP Tunneling Support for VPNs. RASExpress lets
you fully support tunneling on a Microsoft virtual
private network (VPN), which means ISPs can offer
their corporate users the security they may require.
Management Made Easy. RASExpress gives you the
flexibility to monitor, control, and gather statistics using
your preferred management approach with support for
embedded web, telnet, ftp servers and Multi-Tech’s
SNMP agent.
SNTP Support. RASExpress also has a built-in Simple
Network Time Protocol (SNTP) client which enables
RASExpress to synchronize its clocking with a remote
time/clock server on the Internet. This feature is useful
for accounting purposes.
Comprehensive Security. RASExpress has a built-in
security database for authentication and authorization
of thousands of user profiles using PAP and CHAP. It
also has a built-in RADIUS client for authentication
where installations are using a RADIUS server. For
installations not currently using RADIUS security, a
bundled RADIUS server application for installation on a
Windows NT server provides added security.
Multi-Tech Business Solutions
Other Remote Access Solutions. For ISP POPs and
smaller installations, the single-segment T1/PRI
CommPlete 2400-Series communications server
supports up to 48 ports for BRI ISDN and V.90/56K
clients. For even smaller applications, the BRI ISDN/
Analog CommPlete 4000 communications server
supports up to 32 ports. Or, to integrate remote access
into your existing server, utilize Multi-Tech
MultiModemISI server cards.
Client Solutions. The Multi-Tech client solutions line up
includes corporate 56K dial-up and leased line modems
for mission-critical business communications, PC card
modems for mobile users, a desktop USB modem and
ISDN internal and external modems.
