Automation Control In Belt
Conveyance
Application
This product bundling application shows the adaptability of the product
solution and the synergy of integrating Telemecanique®automation
products into a turn key system approach. It incorporates the Altivar® 31
drive and the TeSys®U-line starter in a unit handling motor control
scheme in tandem with our Osiconcept™ sensor line. It combines the
variable speed programmable capability of the drive, utilized by sensor
logic inputs to the drive controller, to change speed on the fly along with
changing the direction of flow. Also utilized are the Momentum™ weighing
module, RFID module, Advantys™ I/O module, Magelis®HMI display, and
Concept programming environment.
Solution
The Schneider Electric solution for unit conveying in this application is to
mount the conveyor motor control and I/O components in a decentralized
control cabinet with communication capability back to the main PLC
controller.
Sequence of Operation
1. Set Manual/Off/Auto selector to Auto.
2. Turn the On/Off selector to on and a red light on the indicating bank
comes on.
3. Depress the start push button. This signals a buzzer and changes the
indicating bank to green and starts the Altivar® 31 drive.
4. The conveyor starts and the tote travels by the first photo electric (PE)
sensor which detects the tote and slows the drive down to 75% speed
changing the indicating bank to orange.
5. The tote proceeds down to the end of the first conveyor, is detected by
the second PE sensor and signals the indicating bank to go to white,
indicating the crossover conveyor logic.
6. The Thru Beam sensors detect the tote transferring to the weigh scale
conveyor and the first conveyor speed is reset to the original setting.
7. On the second conveyor, the RFID reader reads the RFID tag on the
tote. This identifies to the system that the tote is about to be weighed.
The second conveyor is supported by weigh legs (incorporating load
cells) to provide the measuring device.
8. Once the tote reaches the end sensor assembly (containing a
proximity sensor), the logic program reverses the U-Line starter and
sends the tote back to the other end, changing the indicating bank to
blue.
