RAID solution that includes an Adaptec
2410SA RAID controller, internal 4-bay

solution that combines Adaptec quality,

performance of Serial ATA RAID

Full-Featured Serial ATA RAID
The Adaptec 2410SA Enclosure Kit combines
the cost and performance advantages of
native Serial ATA technology w ith Adaptec’s
advanced RAID feature set to maximize data
availability,system performance,and value-add.
Serial ATA, the next-generation I/O technology
for data storage, uses simplified point-to-point
connections that deliver full throughput to
each storage device in the enclosure by allow-
ing multiple ports to be managed by a single
controller. Adaptec’s Ser ial ATA technology
delivers data transfer r ates starting at 1.5
Gbit/sec and a performance roadmap up
to 6.0 Gbit/sec.
The included Adaptec Ser ial ATA RAID
2410SA controller capitalizes on the inherent
advantages of Serial ATA to deliver full-
featured,low-cost RAID. The Adaptec
2410SA card is a 4-port PCI controller that
supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10 and JBOD
for maximum configuration flexibility.
Adaptec 48-bit LBA support enables the
use of up to four 137 GByte-or-greater disk
drives in the RAID enclosure,for maximum
storage resources.
Tr ue Hot-Swap Functionality
Adaptec has designed an efficient and fully
tested controller-to-enclosure connection
that enables cost-effective, full hot-swap
capability. Plus, Adaptec firmware is specially
designed to blink the LED of a failed drive so
users will know which is the correct drive to
swap,avoiding catastrophic failures of the
entire array.
Adaptec Advanced RAID Features
Adaptec’s exclusive RAID capabilities expand
the value of Serial ATA for small businesses.
Optimized Disk Utilization enables the
Adaptec 2410SA controller to use the full
available capacity of up to four Serial ATA
drives housed within the enclosure,regardless
of their mixed capacities.Unlike other
solutions that limit capacity utilization to
the smallest drive in the array, the Adaptec
2410SA Enclosure Kit allows access to total
drive capacity, e ven if the drive sizes
are different.
Online Capacity Expansion allows for adding
capacity to an existing array without ever
having to take the storage offline. This avoids
the cumbersome task of having to recreate a
whole new array and restoring. Similarly,
RAID Level Migration enables the storage
array to be migrated from one RAID level to
another to meet changing business needs.
