It provides an open standard system interface for PC KEY FEATURES Designed for use in Notebook PCS with external System Bus capability Supports two PCMCIA 2.0/2.1/JEIDA 4.1 68-pin standard PC Card sockets Power Management systems for low power consumption System bus timings compatible with Intel 386 SL microprocessors using a cascade of up to four M82356SLs. Each socket can Jumperless System Configuration be independently configured to support either memory or Supports PCMCIA_ATA Specification I/O cards. Memory and I/O windowing facilities are Supports I/O PC Card with Pulse-Mode Interrupts Fully synthesizable Scan test ready Cards at the hardware and data interchange level which in turn ensures that PC Card compatibility can be realised across manufacturers of PC Cards as well as between systems provided by the notebook PC vendors. Up to eight PC Card sockets can be supported by provided between the ISA bus and the PC Cards. The support for the two sockets is clearly divided into two areas in the design, allowing the M82365SL to be readily adapted to a single socket system if required. The M82365SL is software compatible with the Intel 82365SL. The need for jumpers has been eliminated by providing Address Mapping Support for the PC Card Memory together with Address Windowing Support for I/O Space. POWER MANAGEMENT The M82365SL offers a range of power saving options include socket power control, insertion/removal capability, power saving with Windows inactivity, NCS controlled Chip Power Down, together with further controls for 3.3V Suspend with Modem Ring Resume Detection. Applications requiring ultra low power consumption can use one of the two additional signals offered by the M82365SL to gate SYSCLK. (The other extra signal is for use during scan test.)
