Anaren Features Excellent phase accuracy High sensitivity Octave bandwidths Low-noise video amplifier option Integrated Schottky-barrier detectors Rugged stripline construction Meets MIL-E-5400 Class 2 requirements Description The phase discriminator (correlator) accepts two signals of the same frequency and provides an output with relative phase and amplitude information. Two RF input signals, of amplitude A and B and relative phase of @, provide four video output signals. On the 20750 Series, these signal voltages are available at output connectors for direct application to an oscilloscope or for further video processing. With the 2A0750 Series, the four signals are combined and amplified, in an AC coupled, low-noise, video amplifier to provide two output signals. The video outputs from either series can be used to provide a circular (polar) oscilloscope display where radius is pro- portional to input signal strength (r=kAB) and angular Phase Discriminators (Correlators) Series 20750, 2A0750 Applications instantaneous phase and amplitude measurements Phase locked loops Polarization moniiors Direction finding S-parameter measurements Test and instrumentation systems Digital phase monitors deflection is proportional to relative phase ( ) between the input signals. More detailed information on theory of operation can be found on pages 199-200. The phase discriminator has application anywhere the relative phase and amplitude information of two RF signals is desired. Typically they are used for phase/amplitude measurements, for direction finding, measurement of complex reflection and/or transmission characteristics, and as correlators for closed-loop adaptive systems. They are especially useful for test and instrumentation systems where phase and amplitude information can instantaneously be obtained over octave bandwidths. See page 201 for other applications. This Series 20750, 2A0750 Phase Discriminators is an improved version of the 20530, 2A0530 correlators and is a replacement for them.
