OPTOCLIP II

BARE FIBRE ADAPTER

Starting from the ferruleless and easy-to-

assemble standard connector OPTOCLIP II of

HUBER+SUHNER, new applications have been

developed. The new OPTOCLIP II REPEAT

connector (as suggested by its name) can be

assembled more than just once. A threaded

clamping device locks the fibre in place inside

the connector. If required, it can be opened

again, allowing the connector to be reassemb-

led. Apart from crimping, the assembly pro-

cedure is identical to the one applied for the

standard OCTOCLIP II, which allows the same

time-saving tool to be used. The OPTOCLIP II

REPEAT may be applied, for example, during

fibre adjustments in laser manufacturing or in

laboratory setups, that is, wherever an optical

connection is established briefly and only once

for checking purposes. Thus, the OPTOCLIP II

REPEAT can be reused over and over again.

In case of repeated matings – such as are com-

mon also in measurement applications – the

fibre end faces are subjected to heavy wear.

Instead of using a new connector, the OPTO-

CLIP II REPEAT can simply be reassembled.
