Adapte c DuraStor subsystems are designed

for flexibility, scalability, hig h fault-tolerance

and performance. The y are ideal for IT data

centers, businesses that must suppor t data

warehousing,transaction processing,streaming

video, medical imaging, digital pre-press,

and other data-intensive, mission-critical

applications.

Adapte c DuraStor subsystems include a 2U

storage enclosure with 12 SCSI drive bays,

complete with redundant power supplies and

cooling fans. Each subsystem also includes a

single RAID controller (a second controller

bay is available for dual controller configura-

tions) with either four Fibre Channel or

two SCSI host connections and up to four

back-end SCSI channels for storage expansion.

The result is a 2U subsystem that prov ides

high data availability, and is easily scalable

to meet your data storage needs.

Highly scalable

Both subsystems can easily be scaled to

1.7 TBytes by installing up to 12 one-inch,

146 GByte drives in a single storage enclosure.

For even greater capacity, SCSI host subsystems

can scale to 5.2 TByte with three enclosures.

Fibre Channel host subsystems can scale to

7.0 TByte with four enclosures. The subsystems

feature on-line capacity expansion, which

allows you to expand the capacity of the

array without powering down the system.

Sun Solaris operating system environments.

Fibre Channel-to-SCSI RAID storage subsystem

The Adaptec DuraStor 7320SS Storage Subsystem is a fast,flexible,

quickly scalable, easy-to-manage solution for FC-to-SCSI networked

data storage. The Dur astor 7320SS is SAN-ready,providing the hig hest

performance and the greatest accessibilit y for multiple clients. This

subsystem is the optimal solution for shared storage environments,

where multiple storage subsystems will be managed over long distances.

Advanced software features allow for increased storage securit y and

storage manageability, resulting in lower total cost of ownership.

Adapte c’s LUN Zoning technology provides the ability to map and

mask LUNs or par titions to multiple servers in SAN environments

(see diagram below). IT managers can easily and conveniently

partition pooled storage and select which ser vers can access each

partition. This technology minimizes management costs, and

provides improved storage access security.

The DuraStor 7320SS also offers other advantages, such as the ability

to support LAN-free backups – particularly desir able where LAN

bandwidth is constrained. It is ideal for small to large IT data centers

and businesses with SANs or point-to-point topologies that handle

storage needs for data-intensive applications such as e-commerce,

rich media st reaming, transaction processing, and data warehousing.

The DuraStor 7320SS includes a 2U SCSI drive enclosure with a

single FC-to-SCSI RAID controller and hot-swappable power supplies

and fans.Adding a second (optional) RAID controller provides host-

independent active-active failover/failback features for point-to-point

and arbitr ated loop configurations. RAID level support includes

0, 1, 3, 4, 5, 10, 50, and JBOD volume sets. Highly fault-tolerant

and easily scalable to four drive enclosures, the DuraStor 7320SS

can store up to 7.0 TByte of data using 146 GByte drives.

Designed to be the most economical in a DAS environment,the

Adaptec DuraStor 6320SS storage subsystem is a fast, flexible, scalable,

easy-to-manage solution for SCSI-to-SCSI centralized d at a sto r a ge .

Best suited where security is paramont, and where fewer than three

servers share data. This is the optimal solution for distances of less

than 25 meters, and where a few RAID storage enclosures will meet

the storage requirement.

This external storage subsystem offers improved stor age availability

and scalability than a PCI RAID solution. The subsystem enhances

performance by offloading data from the server CPU to the external

RAID Controller.

The DuraStor 6320SS is configured using a SCSI-to-SCSI RAID

controller enclosed in a 2U SCSI drive enclosure with hot-swappable

power supplies and cooling fan module. The installation of an

optional second RAID controller adds host-independent active-active

failover/failback features. Highly fault tolerant and easily scalable to

three drive enclosures, the DuraStor 6320SS can store up to 5.2 TByte

of data using 146 GByte drives.
