3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Interface and physical dimensions. S ee tables I and II and fi gure 1. Som e card holders conf orming to this drawing may
be supplied in a unassembled condi tion. See 6.8 for additional information.
3.1.1 Mounting to circuit card assembly. Card holders conforming to this dr awing are secur ed to the circuit c ard assembly
using either adhesives, braz i ng, fastener, or rivets. Card holders are availa ble either with mounting holes as shown on figure 1
or without mounting holes. Ther e are three options for designs with mounting holes. The hole opti ons are counterbore holes or
two styles of tapped holes.
3.1.1.1 No mounting holes (for adhesive or brazing mounting). Card holders without mountin g holes (to facilitate adhesive or
brazing mount ing) shall contain an "N" in the P IN.
3.1.1.2 Count er bore holes (for r i v et mounting). Counterbore holes shall be .068/.073 inch (1. 73/1.85 mm) diamet er
countersunk 100 degrees by .140 inch (3.56 mm) di am eter through holes with an access/clearance h ole .156 inch (3.96)
diameter by .2 00 inch (5.08 mm) deep for configurations "A", " C" , "D", and "E" and .175 inch (4.45 mm) deep for configuration
"B". Card retainers with counterbore holes shall include a suffix "R" in the PIN.
3.1.1.3 Tapped holes (for threaded fastener s ). Card retainers with 2–56 UNF t apped through holes s hall include a suffix "S"
in the PIN. Card retainers with 0–80 UNF tapped thr ough holes shall include a suffi x "T" in the PIN (see figure 1, table I, and
1.2).
3.1.2 Alignment springs. Co nfigurations "A", "B", "C", and " D" that have no mount ing holes or tapped mounting holes shall
have 3 alignme nt springs, one in the mounting bod y and one in each of the two intermediate bodies. Configurations "A " , "B",
"C", and "D" that use rivets for mounting holes shall have 2 alignm ent springs, one i n each of the two intermediate bodies. The
mounting body will not have an alignment spring. Configurations "E", "F", "G", and "H" shall have 3 alignment s prings, one in
the mounting b ody and one in each of the two intermediate bodies for al l mounting opt ions.
