Page 1 of 1 Scotch-SealTM 2229 Mastic Tape Data Sheet _________________________________________________________________________________ Product Description Data - Typical Properties Scotch-Seal 2229 Mastic Tape is a conformable, durable, tacky mastic coated on an easy release liner. The product is designed for quick and easy insulating, padding and sealing of objects that need to be protected from adverse environmental conditions. It is well suited for corrosion protection applications and is resistant to U.V. light. Wide temperature stability while maintaining its sealing properties. Conformable and mouldable for easy applications over irregular surfaces. Does not crack when subjected to repeated flexing. Fully compatible with most semi-con jacketing materials*. Material exhibits excellent self-healing characteristics after being punctured or cut. Excellent chemical and UV resistance. Exhibits very low cold-flow. Retains its flexibility at low temperatures resulting in ease of application and continuous performance at reduced temperatures. *Note: Since a large number of different semiconductive jacketing materials are currently available, the user is urged to test the compatibility of ScotchSeal with the semi-conductive jacketing material being used. Applications For sealing high voltage cable splice and termination accessories. For insulating electrical connections rated up to 1000 volts if over wrapped with vinyl or rubber electrical tape. For padding irregular shaped connections. For providing corrosion protection to a wide variety of electrical connections and applications. For sealing ducts and cable end seals. For sealing against dust, soil, water and other environmental conditions. Product Handling The appropriate length of Scotch-Seal Mastic Tape can easily be cut on the roll by using a sharp knife or suitably protected razor blade. It can be applied in layers or can easily be moulded into the desired shape. Shelf Life When maintained under normal storage conditions, Scotch-Seal 2229 will remain stable and has a five year shelf-life.
