1Mfg. Approx. 116 PPMC8240 boards were
build with an incorrect component. Power supply failure. Can destroy
the MPC8240 and/or CR1. If C53 is a polarized tantalum capacitor,
remove and replace it with a non-polar-
ized 1206 1.0uF ceramic capacitor.

2Design Continually pulling unused PCI request
signal REQ4* low (to enable debug
mode) will cause the PCI bus to be
requested and eventually granted to
GNT4*.
Minimal; after 32 clocks the PCI
arbiter will decide port 4 is a bro-
ken master and ignore it thereafter.
None.
For X3: Connect 1K pulldown to
CPU_HRST* instead of ground.

3Appear. All memory bus signals have been
renamed to little-endian numbering. None, confusing. None:
For X3: Update pin numbers.

4COP/
VITA Target reset capability added to VITA
spec. COP needs this function to work. COP will not work. 1. Connect a wire on the bottom of the
PPMC8240 from J11 pin 13 (the COP
header) to J2 pin 60 (the PPMC connec-
tor).
For X3: Same.

Errata 7: Target System Reset
Overview:
COP in-circuit emulators may not be able to reliably gain control of the target system if
the reset command issued to the PPMC card does not also reset the motherboard (Sand-
point). The cause is apparently due to interrupting a PCI transaction the Winbond before
completion. If the Winbond is not reset, the system will lock up until a global reset is
issued.
The latest VITA specification has added a pin to the PPMC connector for just such a pur-
pose. The rework adds this function.
(Note: Sandpoint X2 also requires some rework).
Work-arounds:
The work-around is to connect the new SYSRST* function to the reset switch pin.
1. Connect a wire on the bottom of the board from J2 pin 60 (new SYSRST*) to J11 pin
13 (COP HRST*).
