Availability
The EvoPortis currently available for insert
arrangements using contact sizes 20 and 22.
Other options may be available - consult your
sales representative for details.
The EvoPortincludes through holes for connector
to PCB mounting. For retention purposes, four
screws should be fitted through the PCB, EvoPort
and into the rear flange of the connector,
which is fitted with either an M3 or 4-40UNC
helicoil threaded insert as required.
All EvoPortheaders require ‘EvoPortready’
connector termination, which is available on
Deutsch EvoMaxand other filter connectors.
Other connectors can also be provided ‘EvoPort
ready’ - consult your sales rep for details.
EvoPort
The Deutsch EvoPorttechnology
overcomes the process difficulties associated
with fitting a PCB tail connector to a surface
mount PCB. By using the low profile header
on the PCB, the connector becomes a
removable item. Hand soldering can be
eliminated using the press fit version, which
utilises the proven technology of compliant
pin contacts. For those who want the
benefits of a removable connector, but
require a soldered connection, a PCB Tail
version of the EvoPortheader is available.
Features and Benefits
• Low profile
• Connector becomes reusuable
• Ease of assembly
• Can overcome mixed technology PCB soldering
process issues
• O-ring seal to connector body
• Wash out slots provide for board cleaning
and conformal coating
• Reduced rework costs
• Reduced thermal mass during soldering
• Reduced PCB profile during assembly

Termination Options
Two terminations are offered for the EvoPort
Solder Mount (SM) using PCB tails
Allows the designer to capitalise on the other benefits of
a connector header whilst still using solder processing.
Press Fit (PF) using compliant pin technology
Using Press Fit technology resolves the soldering process
issues associated with mixed technology board design.

Assembly note:
Even pressure should be applied to the EvoPort
during installation. Press tooling should cover the
whole face. It may also be necessary to support the
underside of the PCB during the installation of Press Fit
EvoPort. Deutsch can provide detailed assembly
suggestions on request including PCB plating material
and thickness requirements.
Detailed product drawings are available from
Deutsch on request.
