The R1516x Series are CMOS-based voltage regulators featuring 150mA output current and 36V input voltage. In addition to a
fold-back prote ction circuit built into conventi onal regulators, R1516x contains a thermal sh utdown circuit. Besides t he low supply
current by CMOS, the operating temperature is -40°C to 105°C and the maximum input voltage is 36V, the R1516x series are very
suitable for use in digital home appliances and automotive applications. Compared to the same 150mA output R1514x Series,
R1516x offers an excellent load transient response.

MAXIMUM INPUT VOLTAGE 36V
The CMOS type regulator has been introduced into the
high input voltage area where only bipolar type could
previously operate.
The R1516x Series have achieved the absolute maximum
rating as high as 50V (Peak input voltage: 60V < 200ms).
LOW SUPPLY CURRENT
DURING OPERATION: 29μA
The supply current of CMOS type is much lower than
bipolar type’s. This value shows R1516x’s supply current
is low, although the input voltage is high as 36V. A energy
saving system can be built, because the supply current is
low in the operating mode as well as in standby mode.

Unlike Ricoh’s conventional regulators, the operating
ambient temperature range of the R1516x Series is rated
from -40°C to 105°C that makes it suitable for use in
digital home appliances involving higher operating
temperatures.

Comparison of R1516x with R1514x
Compared to the same 150mA output of R1514x, R1516x has improved a load transient response as shown below.
The R1516x series has narrow range of output voltage compared with the R1514x series (R1516x :1.8V to 6.2V, R1514x : 2.0V to 12.0V)
