Fiber Optic Switches
Key Features
• Single and multimode fiber
optic switches
•1×2 and 2×2 configurations
• Low insertion loss and low
back-reflection
• High durability — greater
than 10 million cycles
The component-style fiber optic
prism switches offered by Newport
are switches having high durability
— greater than 10 million cycles —
and low insertion loss. The switch
uses a moving prism between fixed
collimator pairs which allows bi-
directional operation independent of
data rate and signal format.
9/125 and 62.5/125 µm, 1 meter,
jacketed fiber pigtails are available
on all models. In addition, optional
ST, FC and SC fiber connector termi-
nation options can be added.
The 1x2 single-mode and multimode
fiber optic switches are two position
devices which enable channel selec-
tion. These non-latching models
require a 5V DC switching voltage.
Applications include fiber and com-
ponent testing and optical signal
routing.
The 2x2 single-mode and multimode
fiber optic switches are fully reversing
optical bypass switches, which are
used to insert or bypass nodes in fiber
ring networks. These non-blocking,
non-latching components require a
5V DC switching voltage. Applications
include bypassing of FDDI and
SONET network stations, automated
and remote fiber test systems.
