Description
The Alcatel 1926 OFA (Optical Fiber
Amplifier) is designed to offer excellent
Performance characteristics for WDM
systems in the 1529.1 - 1561.8 nm wave-
length range.
The standard, double-stage 17 dBm unit
can be supplemented using external pump
modules to achieve out p uts of 20 dBm or
23 dBm.
A 9 dB mid-amplifier loss port has been
designed in to allow for A/DMUX
functions, dispersion compensation, etc.
Tap couplers at each signal port offer full
monitoring capability.
The Alcatel 1926 OFA achieves very flat
gain in excess of 23 dBm or
26 dBm, while limiting gain excursion to <
1 dB (ty pical) over the entire
32.7 nm wavel ength range.
Optimization of the architecture yields
very low typical noise figures < 5 dB for
the 17 & 20 dBm configurations.
