Description
The Alcatel 1912 AWG (Arrayed
Waveguide Grating) is designed
for DWDM systems and belongs to
a family of high performance
optical routing devices.
This component offers an
alternative to expensive upgrades
by eliminating the cost associated
with installing additional fibers.
Based on SiO2/Si planar
technology, the AWG chip consists
of a number of arrayed channel
waveguides functioning as
diffraction gratings.
Compared to other technologies,
the AWG structure offers much
narrower wavelength channel
spacing in ITU channel allocation,
high manufacturability and stability,
low cross-talk, much smaller
insertion loss, long-term reliability
and low per-channel cost.
Features
Narrow and accurate channel
spacing
Low, uniform insertion loss
Low cross-talk
Polarization insensitivity
High stability and reliability
Temperature stabilization heater
Applications
DWDM transmission
DWDM based add/drop
multiplexing
Wavelength-selective routing
Optical signal processing
