Simple—Yet
Advanced
Simple to Install
Installing the 3Com®11 Mbps
Wireless LAN Access Point 6000 takes
as little as 60 seconds. Plug it into a
power source and a switch or hub (if
it is to be connected to a wired LAN),
and the access point becomes immedi-
ately visible to wireless clients. DHCP
support allows automatic assignment
of client IP addresses without any
manual configuration.
The Access Point 6000 also
features Clear Channel Select and
Power-over-Ethernet, which further
simplify installation and ensure
quality connections.
Easy to Use
The access point is extremely easy
to configure. After launching the
management software tool, a list of
all access points on the respective
IP subnet is displayed. Once the
access point to be configured has
been selected, an intuitive directory
will provide step-by-step guidance
through the configuration process.
The access point’s Auto Network
Connect feature lets users roam the
corporate campus, even across
IP router boundaries, without losing
connections.
Reliable Operation
Dynamic rate shifting automatically
chooses the best connection speed
(11, 5.5, 2, or 1 Mbps) for wireless
users, depending upon signal
strength and distance from the access
point. This ensures reliable connec-
tions even at long ranges or in noisy
environments.
Highly Secure
This access point delivers advanced
security, including 3Com Dynamic
Security Link technology*. Unlike
shared-key schemes, this technology
automatically generates a new 128-bit
encryption key for each session—
providing a much higher level of
security than static shared-key
schemes. This also frees users from
the hassle of entering confusing
keys manually. Wireless clients also
have 40- and 128-bit WEP encryption
(where allowed by law) and user
authentication available for up
to 1000 users.
The 3Com 11 Mbps Wireless LAN
Access Point 6000 ensures wireless
connections are reliable and setup
is easy. Wireless networks can be
created or extended in minutes—
without the need for dedicated
on-site technical support. A simple
setup and easy-to-follow wizards keep
installation uncomplicated. Plug it in,
and connect wirelessly within the
100-meter (328 feet) range.
